50by201550by2015: Cut Hunger in Half by 2015 is the campaign theme of The North Carolina Hunger Forum. The North Carolina Hunger Forum is a voluntary partnership organized to raise public awareness of the extent and cost of hunger in our State Congresswoman Eva Clayton (retired), who has worked for years on issues related to hunger and poverty nationally and internationally, has organized the North Carolina Hunger Forum to raise public awareness, engage in public advocacy, and foster community action to address hunger in her home state of North Carolina. “50 by 2015,” is consistent with the goal of the World Food Summit Declaration of 1996 from the Food Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The Rome Declaration set the political, conceptual, and technical blueprint for ongoing efforts in 180 countries to reduce worldwide hunger by half (or 50%) by the year 2015. The 50by2015: Cut Hunger in Half by 2015 campaign is a series of regional Hunger Forums designed to galvanize community action. The North Carolina Hunger Forum will bring stakeholders together to examine the real costs of hunger and to engage in strategic efforts to cut hunger in half by 2015. |
